Fred outlined a lot of things that I now need to concentrate on for the next few weeks.
Firstly my dissertation proposal needs to be thought-through a lot more than I have until now. I took the easy route in what I was thinking about doing and need to think a lot more about how I can incorporate my practice (what I want to focus on from now on) into a topic that I can enjoy writing about and researching until next February. I am going to come up with some notes about a proposal and take them to the session with Richard on Monday.
Following this, we talked about my current brief and he really helped me narrow it down. It seems I set myself an impossibly big task with producing 6 of each design.
To produce the range, I am going to start off by creating the design for one song and really think about the different ways in which I can produce the range of merch using that design which will mean that I answer the brief and produce the range... and then once that is done, think about producing the designs for the other songs and proposing the merch that would be generated from these.
Things to do :
- Dissertation proposal - really think about my practice and how I could incorporate this into the topics we have covered this year in the CTS module
- Narrow down my brief. Really outline what the range I will produce be. What are my strongest designs and what song am I going to do?
- Am I going to focus on one song or try and do the whole EP in one piece?
- Am I going to propose the t-shirt and tote bag or am I going to propose it and impose my designs onto t-shirts using Photoshop?
- Research what goes on to a CD cover/ LP's. The format - what is needed to make it look realistic... bar codes, track listings etc
- Research printing methods for the range.
- Create a design which will work across all media.
