Skull + Photoshop

I want to create an original skull image which will add death imagery to one of my pieces for the song 'bets'.

I decided to use the photoshop layering properties that I experimented with yesterday. 

I drew a sugar skull, which is a classic mexican image on illustrator and coloured it in photoshop. These are often used as tattoo designs. To add some dark imagery to this, I took an illustration of a skull and started seeing how they layered up.

I then started with the layering effects, constantly having to remove parts of both images to make them fit together properly.

Colour burn

Linear Burn

Darker Colour

Overlay

My favourite results out of the two are colour burn and overlay. I feel that they have the most poignant effect as the effect distresses the image adding a more sinister feel.
