We decided to base our project around the idea of "getting people to give more".
After talking about different responses to the brief, we decided on working on the fact that people spend too much money on gifts, when really, many people find hand-made/thought rather than price gifts a lot more personal and rewarding. We then went about trying to reproduce this visually, trying to find a way of getting people to give more hand-crafted gifts. For research we first asked the question ...
"where do you mainly find yourself going when you buy a gift?"
The main responses were...
- SHOPS
- THE INTERNET
- CATALOGUES
- MARKETS
- MAGAZINES
Going with what we thought... each and every one of the above involves spending money.
We now wanted to go about producing a product which would encourage to make people spend more, what with the troubled economic times and the fact that people actually prefer hand-made presents. Our role will be teaching people different techniques and ideas for a vast range of hand made gifts and events which are all personal, cheap and hand-made.
