Editorial brief - Tim Dowling

The third editorial image I produced was for an article by Tim Dowling about his New Year's resolutions.

Originally, I thought about different ways that people remember things... as this was about remembering to actually stick to his resolutions.
I thought  this would work as he names 7 different resolutions... and the space given could easily be split up into 7 boxes.
This is my initial ideas sheet.

The ideas focus around memos and alarms... different means and ways that people go about remembering things they need to do (eg, post-it notes, writing on hands etc...)
After thinking more about this... I decided it all looked a bit un-original and too much detail would be given. I do not want to tell the people what his resolutions are... or they won't bother reading the article... I need to rather extract certain parts of the article... the parts which create good imagery.
For my final image, I decided to use a combination of photographs, vector art and hand-rendered line drawings.

I first tried this in colour...

I then decided that maybe greyscale might look better...

Which it did...

This is the final image.
