So relieved!!

And this is the email I received a couple of days after our submission of the work. 

Poster - More context

We discovered for the final boards that we needed one more image of the poster in context. 

We were missing it on a 96 sheet in a tube station, so I made up a vector image to go with the other ones. 

Naomi is getting on with putting the boards together with input from both Gemma and myself, as she is the best and most interested in layout. 

After a spell check and a final check, I think that our collaborative project is rapidly coming to an end. 

Newspaper - photoshop skills

Well today, Lorraine taught me a new way of cutting things out on photoshop using masks and the pen tool. 

It made it a lot easier and does not actually delete any data which is good for when you go wrong. 

I then placed the newspaper advert I made into the advertising space... and voila!

I have changed the bus stop vector image to greyscale to fit the other context images...

Further presentation feedback responses

So following another small group crit, we were made aware of 'drink responsibly' not being on the poster... but is a specification on the brief. 

So I have done a few mock-ups of where I could fit this in, subtly... but so that it's there. 

I prefer it being in lower case, to follow on with the rest of the type at the bottom of the poster. 

I chose to put it in white, to make it stand out as best as it can, being that small. 

The issue was also raised that we may not need the logo at the bottom of the page as it is so prominent on the bottle. 

I tried it out but I don't think it looks right, it looks like a part of it is missing. 

So I am going to keep it on there...

Final posters - type adjustments

These are the final three advertising posters with the type adjustments. 

I think they look a lot better. 

Type adjustments

Following the final presentation, it was made clear to us that the type we had be working with was inconsistent. We came to a compromise, I would change my serifed font from Caecilia to Copse... and Naomi would change her sans from Helvetica Neue to Opificio (collaboration and all that)

These are a couple of examples of new layouts... with the new typefaces. 

The second is the one that I am going with. 

The drop image curls around with the G to add to the design. 

Final crit - questions asked

Today we had our final presentation for YCN. It was student led... we were asked to pose questions about the work we assessed. 

This was very useful, the questions asked about our work were informative and have given us clear direction for improvement. 

These were the questions asked... 

My action plan - 

Do a vector image of the newspaper (rather than the photograph)

Make the bus stop image black and white

Make the tube photograph into vectors (to go with the rest of the context images)

Change the 'Glayva - Liquid Gold' typeface to the one used on packaging

Play around with the layout of the type

Into context...

Final billboard poster design

I have placed the re-sized poster onto my image of a billboard. 

I think I looks effective. 

Everything is legible and clear. 

I now need to place it in different situations... tube stops and bars. I think I may try and place them into photographs too. 

Scale and format of the billboard poster

So I misinterpreted the size that the file needed to be for the billboard. 

These are some revised 'stretched out' files'.

I have tried to keep the assets similar. 

The words on the bottom are what I am having problems with. I will discuss with the others which they think will look best. 

Billboard Posters

I have tried to stick to the original design as much as possible with this. 

I have played around with the different swirls a lot and different layouts.
These are some of them. 

I feel the swirls are too prominent and interfering with these so I tried playing around with a more controlled flowing line. Maybe straight through the middle?

These are two I prefer out of my designs. I am now going to play around with the layout of the text.

More swirls

I now have to design another poster fit for the billboards. 

I have chosen to work on an illustrator file of 400mm x 200mm. 

For this I need to re-assess the flowing lines for the background to fit the format. 

These are a few I have tried out. 

I like it when they are more condensed, giving some aspects of the flow a stronger colour.
