Photoshop experimentation

I said that this year I was going to learn a lot more about how to use the software that is available to us... and on Thursday, Fred showed me an aspect of photoshop that I hadn't used before. Playing around with layer properties and the different things that you could do with over-laying them.
I decided to use the typeface I had just manipulated to experiment with this. I must say that these are not designs that I am going to use... just experiments to see how it works and how I could incorporate it into my practice. I decided to play on the nautical theme and use sea imagery taken from the internet.

Simply adding a photograph behind the type.

Adding different layer effects.

Adding a white layer... and one with a pale blue circle and playing around with the orders of the layers gave me this result.

I then added another photograph of waves and played with the transparency. I think it has worked rather well.

The layer palette.

I have enjoyed doing this and feel that I could really use this with this brief.
