"A series of people, objects or things beside or behind each other"
I instantly thought of school photographs... people in lines... according to height. All looking so regulated. Photography in which there are clear lines.
This followed with chains of lights, fairy lights/christmas lights and all sorts of information/guidance lights such as cat's eyes in the road, street lamps and such.
And then with chains of mountain peaks, the way each seems to blend into another at a certain point creating a sort of natural zig-zag.
"A connected series of events, actions or developments"
My first thought for this seems quite obvious... metamorphosis, the change from a caterpillar to a butterfly... frog spawn, tadpole to frog... this could be a really interesting idea to work with.
This lead to the idea of time... timelines, or even a more literal approach with watch chains, clock handles.
I then thought of flip books, it shows an action in a quick succession of photographs. I could maybe use illustration for this one, turning a single line into different images.
"A mark indicating position, connection or boundaries"
On this one, I had more trouble, even though it was simple, to come up with any interesting ideas. I thought about the track lines in a swimming pool, separating the lines, the ones that float on the water. This could be interesting maybe with a stop motion film.
I then thought about road lines, a very easy approach to the quote, cycle lanes and such. I would like to come up with something more original I feel.
I then thought of the lines indicating where to cut on a page, the dashed track line with a widely understood scissor "cut here" symbol. This could be really interesting using photography, putting this line around general objects...
